Main Info
A bi-monthly night of improvised comedy courtesy of Leeds’ very own award-winning improvised sketch group, The Discount Comedy Checkout. All the characters, scenarios, and situations are created using your suggestions.

Each show features a hand-picked guest performer from the UK comedy circuit. This could be another quality improv group, a sketch act, character performer, musical comedian, or a good old-fashioned stand up.

The Discount Comedy Checkout has been entertaining comedy club and festival goers throughout the UK for over 12. Featuring Chris Lumb (BBC: Russell Howard’s Good News), Eddie French, Natalie Smeaton (ITV: Britain’s Got Talent), and Phil Allan-Smith (BBC: This is MY House).

Opening the show is Frankie Monroe.

Owner of The Moon Room Social Club (a working men’s club in Rotherham what is also a portal to hell), expect a night of laughs, tricks and mucky bitter.

Frankie is one of the many creations of Joe Kent-Walters, one of Yorkshire’s finest alternative comedy acts. Joe is also one half of The Lovely Boys and Winner of the 2021 Chortle Student Comedy Award.

Joe was recently a finalist of the 2023 BBC New Comedy Award, a huge comedy accolade.

“A mesmerising and unpredictable presence” – Chortle

  • The comedy is creative and crude, quick and quirky, the performers commit completely to the games and create funny & fantastic characters at a moment’s notice. ★★★★★ – Remotegoat
  • There’s a wonderful slapstick nature to it all but they are all impressively literate in film culture and genres too, creating brilliant, quick draw pastiches of popular cinema that will have you in stitches. ★★★★ – Manchester’s Finest
  • Total fun and instantly engaging. ★★★★★ – WHODARESGRINS.COM
  • True Masters of what they do. – Hull Comedy Festival
